It’s too easy these days to stay heads-down in work, on your phone, and in your own world. Some days, I don’t even leave the house until late in the afternoon to teach, having little-to-no human contact. The WFH life can be a bit mind-altering when the only interaction with people is through a screen.
While I love the flexibility of working from home, I do miss the camaraderie that comes with a shared office space. Having the opportunity to walk up to a team member with a question or a funny video. Realizing that you’re all starving and a taco order needs to happen immediately. And most of all, the creative brainstorm sessions that breed the best ideas.
And there’s something to be said about making eye contact and conversation with your team on a day-to-day basis that strengthens your relationships – it builds trust and understanding, and in our case, it creates that much needed time be present and have fun with what we do.
For me, it’s also a much-needed check in. Since I’m so close to my team, it gives me that personal time with them to see how everything is going in their worlds. When I don’t get that face time, it’s far too easy to bottle myself and feelings up and not give too much thought to how everyone else is feeling.
This team and what we do every day with Fit Approach and the Sweat Pink community is so fun, exciting, and new, but I always need a self-reminder to pick my head up and remember that being a good team member also means working on our relationships.
As a team, we’re always trying to bring more IRL experiences into our WFH lives. So for the Portland team, we’re committing ourselves to at least one work date, one sweat date, and one fun date a week.
And so far? It’s making all the difference in our relationships, personal and work. Between the emails and copy editing and heads down work, we are now having more in-person connections and nourishing our relationships. I realize more and more every day that it is those relationships that we learn the most from and that require attention and care just like any other relationship. Now I just need to figure out how to teleport Alyse over here for that much-needed facetime, sweat-time, and wine time.
Our very own Sweat Pink sister, Anna of FIT & Flirty, designed this fun and inspiring line of fitness tanks that ties in her love of fitness and champagne. Thanks to her, I now see how these two things can tie into a healthy lifestyle! Do you even know the benefits of bubbles?! Hello, champagne it’s full of antioxidants and good for your hair!
This new athleisure line is such a good reminder to myself to find some fun and play even while working hard at finding balance in my work-life relationships. Relationships have to be tended to more often. And if it cute tanks, sweaty dates, and tasty bubbles make all of this happen, then I’m even more for it!
Today, the Sweat Pink community is so excited to join together and announce the launch of the FIT & Flirty line of athletic tops and share them with you!
If you browse through the shop, there are designs and tanks in every style – surely something for every fitness-loving, graphic-T-wearing, sweaty-date-going person in your life!
I’m rocking the Low Squattin’ Champagne Sippin’ Cap Sleeve T in heather gray. The material is soft, stretchy, and very fitness-friendly. It’s not constricting and when tied at the waist, it doesn’t go anywhere during yoga. And it’s always a good reminder for me to keep the good vibes high!
