What’s the appropriate length of time we can talk about New Year’s resolutions, changes, and anything else we want to implement in this bright and shiny new year? Is it a few days or weeks? I’m already over the ads for detoxes, skin remedies, diets, etc. I’m over the idea that a new year means a new body – last year’s body was not good enough, but this year, oh, you’ll have the body you want (or should want). And how do you get this exterior result? Resolutions.
Like so many in this inspiring community, I’m not on board with the idea of resolutions – restrictions, limitations to how one should live – I think they set you up for disappointment, shame, and guilt. And that’s not how I want to feel this year.
I taught my first class of 2018 last night. New playlist, new flow, and all the fire. But before we started to move, I talked about this idea that yoga has taught me to start fresh every time I step on the mat to flow. There are ups and there are downs in your practice, but you always have the opportunity to step away, breathe and come back. We always have the opportunity to learn something new, to challenge our bodies and minds in new ways, and to fall, grow, and even succeed.
This is in line with what I plan this year to look like. It’s an opportunity to start with a clean slate, to set goals that force us out of our comfort zone and to not let anything stop us in our path. Yes, there will be many, many bumps, but just remember, without the struggles, there is no strength. It’s because of those bumps we learn to overcome, to succeed, or at the very least, learn from our mistakes. This year is a time to take action, to move forward, and to never stop in the pursuit of what lights our fire.
This year, 2018, I AM LIMITLESS. In work, fitness, relationships, life. I can find balance. I can run faster. I can be more supportive of loved ones. I can do more inversions. Not only can I, but I will. This year is about believing in ourselves and supporting those around you to believe in themselves more. We have the knowledge, the strength, and the abilities to conquer any of our goals. The first step is just realizing it.
This is why I’m joining Gixo and Fit Approach in the #IAmLimitless challenge. Each Wednesday and Friday, starting on January 10 – February 2, Fit Approach will be sharing messages of inspiration, empowerment, and positivity and are asking the Sweat Pink community to come together and join us in this incredible movement.

Love this, Nic, most of all this:
